Reading with Raptors at Discovery Gateway

Reading with Raptors is back at Discovery Gateway Children's Museum on Saturday, December 12, from 11 AM to 12 PM. It's a monthly program run by HawkWatch International, and the whole thing is made possible by Salt Lake County ZAP.

The setup is pretty straightforward: children get to meet one of the organization's Raptor Ambassadors—a live bird of prey—and then read a storybook that matches the bird they've just encountered. While they're reading, they'll be learning about raptors, so it's as much about the birds as it is about the books. The bird changes from month to month, which is why the storybook changes along with it.

If you're not familiar with the museum, it's at 444 W 100 S in downtown Salt Lake City. The session runs for an hour, and you don't need to register in advance. Admission is included with your museum ticket, so if you're already planning a day there, this is an easy add-on. Just keep in mind that this particular date hasn't been officially confirmed yet, so it's worth double-checking before you head over. It runs from 11 AM to 12 PM on Saturday, December 12.
