Improvisational comedy show in which Quick Wits turns its audience-suggestion sketches into an improvised slasher film.
Quick Wits are back at the Quick Wits Comedy Lab on Friday, October 23, with a show called Scared Scriptless. It's a night of improvisational comedy, and the whole thing is built on audience suggestions—the performers take what you throw at them and turn it into scenes on the spot. The main event is a live improvised slasher film, so the horror movie tropes are there, but the plot is made up as it goes.
If you've never seen them, Quick Wits is an improv troupe that's been around for a while—they're celebrating 30 years of performances and call themselves Utah's first and funniest improv company. Their usual format is fast laughs and scenes built in the moment, and Scared Scriptless pushes that into slasher territory. The horror movie setup gives the night a specific mood, but the comedy still comes from the same place: the performers reacting to each other and to whatever the audience suggests.
