A playful, no-experience-needed printmaking class with instructor Wolf Hansen, using everyday materials like LEGO and erasers to create textured prints.
Wolf Hansen is leading a printmaking series called Printmaking Unleashed at Bad Dog Arts in Salt Lake City, running Wednesday nights from October 14 through November 4. It's a four-session course—October 14, 21, 28, and November 4—with each class running from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
The whole point of the series is to get ink on your hands without worrying about the result. Hansen describes it as a bold, anything-goes, and irreverent approach to printmaking for anyone who wants to loosen up and get a little inky, where perfection is overrated and curiosity leads the way. You ditch the pressure of the perfect print and work with everyday materials like LEGO and erasers to build rich textures, layered patterns, and unexpected results, learning the ropes of the craft with an emphasis on play. It's less about mastering a rigid technique and more about seeing what happens when you stop overthinking it.
No prior experience is needed: just a willingness to experiment, laugh at the mess, and follow where the ink takes you. The class is open to ages 16 and over, so it works whether you're coming in with a friend or just looking for something to do a few nights a month. Over the four sessions, you'll get a feel for the basics of printmaking while keeping that loose, experimental energy going.
