Four-piece tribute band Powder Blue plays Ween's '12 Golden Country Greats' at The State Room, with opening acts and a ten-piece lineup.
Powder Blue takes over The State Room on Friday, October 23, for a tribute to Ween's 12 Golden Country Greats. It's the straight-up country album Ween recorded with Nashville session musicians, and Powder Blue is bringing it to life with a full Salt Lake lineup. The night opens with J-Rad Cooley's Cajun Cowboys, a slimmed-down honky-tonk blues combo that sets the mood before the main set.
The tribute starts with a four-piece core that grows into a ten-piece outfit, rounded out with fiddle, pedal steel, steel guitar, keys, and harmonica. Among the musicians on stage are Michelle Moonshine and John Davis on guitar and vocals, Nik Grainger on bass and vocals, Dave Idan on drums and vocals, J-Rad Cooley on harmonica and vocals, and Juliette Camille on fiddle. They're joined by a deep bench of special guests: Rick Gerber, Morgan Snow, Sarah DeGraw, Kirk Dath, Jeremy Whitesides, Matt Calder, Joshua McCune, Daniel Young, and Jerry Cochran.

One of those guests is Daniel Young, a Salt Lake City singer-songwriter, guitarist, drummer, sound engineer, and producer who's been recording and performing for more than two decades. He's one of the many local names on the bill, and the whole thing is built around the city's own musicians stepping in to cover the record. The show is for ages 21 and over. Doors open at 7 PM, and the music starts at 8 PM at The State Room, 638 S State St.
