If you haven't heard of it, Operation Mincemeat is a World War II comedy musical based on a true story. Set in 1943, it follows the Allied deception mission that helped Britain win the war, built around a stolen corpse, a fake love letter, and Ian Fleming, the man who later created James Bond. The show describes itself as a hybrid of Singin' in the Rain, Strangers on a Train, and Hamilton, pairing historical intrigue with a fast-paced, smart score. It's a big-name production: it won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical in London's West End and the Tony Award for Best Musical on Broadway in 2025. It's billed as the best-reviewed show in West End history, with 88 five-star reviews, and was named the #1 Broadway Show of 2025 by Entertainment Weekly.
The cast features Mariah Copeland as Johnny Bevan, Katie Kleiger as Ewen Montagu, Luke Antony Neville as Hester Leggatt, Erin Ramirez as Jean Leslie, and Jake Bentley Young as Charles Cholmondeley, with Cassie Austin, Noah Berry, Genevieve Ellis, and Loren Stone. Jak Malone takes the featured role. Robert Hastie directs, with choreography by Jenny Arnold, set and costume design by Ben Stones, lighting by Mark Henderson, and sound by Mike Walker. Steve Sidwell handled orchestrations and vocal arrangements, and Joe Bunker is the musical director.
