Free exhibition of folk art at the Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Art, housed in an old farmhouse in Liberty Park.
Once Upon a Tree is on view at the Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Art in Salt Lake City, and it runs through January 9, 2027. That gives you a good window to catch it—you've got all of November and December, plus the first week of January, so it's easy to fit in whenever your schedule opens up over the next couple of months.
If you haven't been, the Chase Home Museum is a bit of a hidden gem. It's an old farmhouse sitting right in the middle of Liberty Park, and it houses the state's folk art collection. Inside, the galleries hold more than 450 pieces made by Utah's many communities, and the range is wide: you'll find Native American ancestral and contemporary work alongside ceramics and occupational crafts. It's the kind of place where you can see a lot of different hands and traditions under one roof.
Because the museum is in Liberty Park, it pairs well with a walk through the park. You can spend some time with the art and then step outside into the greenery, or vice versa. It's a low-pressure way to spend an afternoon, especially since you don't have to rush through—the show stays up through the holidays.
