Rock and prog show by Utah band No Such Animal, with Charlatan, Sunfish and Acacia Ridge, at Soundwell SLC.
No Such Animal are playing Soundwell on Thursday, October 29, at 7 PM. They're the headliner for the night, and they've brought along three other bands to fill out the bill: Charlatan, Sunfish, and Acacia Ridge. It's a four-act lineup, so you'll be getting a full evening of music rather than just one set.
If you haven't come across them yet, No Such Animal is a home-recorded rock band from Provo, Utah. They describe their sound as a blend of punk and prog rock with emo and 2000s rock influences, pairing energetic riffs with catchy melodies. It's a wide net to cast—punk and prog don't always sit in the same room—but they place themselves across progressive rock, sci-fi rock, and alternative rock. The home-recorded part is a good clue to how they work, too; it's the kind of project that starts in a bedroom and builds out from there.
Their album I'm Not Angry, You're Angry is available on Bandcamp, where you can stream it or pick up CDs and vinyl if you're into physical copies. If you want to get a feel for what they do before the show, that's the place to start. The set on the 29th will be part of a larger bill, so you'll hear them alongside Charlatan, Sunfish, and Acacia Ridge.
