National Theatre Live screening of John Millington Synge's play 'The Playboy of the Western World', directed by CaitrĂona McLaughlin, in front of a live audience.
Broadway Centre Cinemas is bringing The Playboy of the Western World to Salt Lake City on Saturday, October 24, as part of the National Theatre Live series. It's a screening of the National Theatre's production of John Millington Synge's darkly funny play, directed by CaitrĂona McLaughlin.
The story centers on Pegeen Flaherty, whose life is turned upside down when a young man walks into her pub claiming he's killed his father. Instead of being shunned, the killer becomes a local hero—until a second man unexpectedly arrives. It's a play about youth and self-discovery, and this particular staging was filmed at the National Theatre in London.
If you're not familiar with the cast, there are a few recognizable names here. Nicola Coughlan, who you've probably seen in Bridgerton, stars alongside Éanna Hardwicke (The Sixth Commandment) and Siobhán McSweeney (Derry Girls). The production was directed by CaitrĂona McLaughlin.
