Interim exhibition of Master of Fine Arts student work from the University of Utah's Department of Art & Art History at the Gittins Gallery.
The MFA Interim Exhibition opens at the Gittins Gallery on January 11, 2027, and runs through January 27. It's a showcase of work from the Master of Fine Arts students in the University of Utah's Department of Art & Art History, and because it's an interim show, you're seeing where these artists are in the middle of their programs rather than a finished thesis exhibition.
That's the thing about an interim show: it's a look at work in progress. The MFA is a rigorous program, and these students are working through their practices in real time, so what you'll see is a snapshot of their current thinking. It's a good way to get a sense of the different directions the cohort is taking before they head toward their final reviews. If you've followed any of these artists since they started, this is where you see how their work has shifted over the course of the degree.
The Gittins Gallery is located in the Film and Media Arts Building at 375 South 1530 East in Salt Lake City. It's a dedicated space for the department's exhibitions, so it's a natural spot to catch what's coming out of the MFA program. The show stays up for over two weeks, from January 11 through January 27, which gives you plenty of time to drop in without feeling rushed.
