Improvisational comedy show by the Laughing Stock improv troupe at The Off Broadway Theatre Company.
Laughing Stock Improv is back at The Off Broadway Theatre Company on Saturday, October 24. It's an improvisational comedy show, which means the night is built on the fly rather than from a script, so you're seeing it made up as it goes.
If you're not familiar with the venue, The Off Broadway Theatre Company is a family-friendly comedy theatre in Salt Lake City run by Eric and Sandy Hubble Jensen. They co-founded both the company and the Laughing Stock improv troupe, and they're still performing with them today. Eric serves as the artistic and technical director and has been staging plays since 1989, with more than 40 of his own written. Sandy has been with the theatre for over 30 years, and together they won the Utah Theatre Association's Best Community Theatre award in 2000. The OBT has been bringing live comedy to Utah audiences for more than 25 years.
One of the company's audience favorites is The Phantom of the OBT, a comedic sendup of The Phantom of the Opera written by Eric Jensen, which first performed more than 15 years ago. That's the kind of thing the theatre is known forβcomedy that's meant for all ages, not just a late-night crowd. The Laughing Stock show on the 24th fits right into that tradition.
