Nightly laser light shows with computer graphics and live lasers in the Clark Planetarium Dome Theater.
Clark Planetarium runs its Laser Light Shows on Friday and Saturday evenings, with four shows per night. They're held in the Hansen Dome Theatre, part of the planetarium's downtown Salt Lake City location at The Gateway, 110 S 400 W.
The shows are built around a state-of-the-art projection system and 13,000 watts of digital surround sound, with themed music soundtracks and live lasers paired with computer graphics. It's a full-dome experience, so you're looking up into the curve of the ceiling rather than at a flat screen. The laser shows are just one part of what's running in the dome; the planetarium also puts on space shows there throughout the day.
If you've never spent much time inside, the planetarium is more than just the theaters. There are three floors of interactive exhibits covering everything from meteors to the moon, and admission to that exhibit space is always free. The Northrop Grumman IMAX Theatre runs nature films alongside the dome's programming, so you can easily pair a laser show with a trip through the galleries or a film in the IMAX.

For families or anyone who finds loud environments overwhelming, there's a Sensory Friendly Saturday every week from 9:30 to 11:30 AM, with adjusted lights and sounds, noise-cancelling headphones, weighted blankets, and other sensory supports. The planetarium is also a member of the ASTC Passport Program, a Museums for All participant, and a KultureCity partner. The laser shows run Friday and Saturday nights, four per evening, in the Hansen Dome Theatre.
