Annual University of Utah Department of Art & Art History exhibition of high school student art at the Gittins Gallery on campus.
The High School Juried Exhibition opens at the Gittins Gallery on Thursday, November 5, and runs through November 23. It's the University of Utah Department of Art & Art History's annual celebration of student creativity, and it's staged right on campus at the Gittins, so it's easy to drop into if you're already around the university.
As the name suggests, this is a juried show, which means the work on display was selected from submissions rather than just being a collection of everything that came in. The exhibition brings together high school art from across the region, so you'll see a wide range of styles and mediums all in one room. It's a good way to get a sense of what young artists in the area are working on right now.
The gallery is open throughout the run, though the hours shift a bit from day to day. On November 5, it's open from 9 AM to 4 PM. On November 6, it closes earlier at noon. The following week, November 9 through 12, it's back to 9 AM to 4 PM, with November 13 closing at noon. The week after that, November 16 through 19, it's 9 AM to 4 PM again, with November 20 closing at noon. The final day, November 23, is 9 AM to 4 PM. If you're planning a visit, just keep an eye on those noon closures on Fridays.
