Gully Boys, the Minneapolis garage, pop rock and punk band, play The Urban Lounge with support from Pollyanna and Willoh.
Gully Boys are playing The Urban Lounge on Thursday, November 12, with Pollyanna and Willöh opening for them. It's a Minneapolis-area band, and they're bringing that sound over to Salt Lake City for the night.
If you haven't crossed paths with them before, the band's story goes back to 2016, when Kathy Callahan shared her dream of becoming a vocalist with Nadirah McGill at a local Ragstock. Natalie Klemond joined on bass, and Nadi picked up the drums. They put out their debut EP a year later, followed by the 2018 LP Not So Brave, which earned them City Pages' Best New Band honors and support slots with The Hold Steady and Third Eye Blind. Their 2019 EP Phony led into Favorite Son, their first record for Get Better Records, produced by Zach Zurn at Carpet Booth Studios.
Their sound blends garage, pop rock, and punk, and they tie their music to community outreach. Back in 2020, that looked like making meals for residents facing housing insecurity in southern Minneapolis. It's a band that keeps its feet on the ground while they're playing.
