Hands-on workshop led by the Glass Art Guild of Utah to make a fused glass Christmas ornament, with all tools, supplies and instruction provided.
Red Butte Garden is hosting a Fused Glass Ornament Workshop on Saturday, November 21, led by the Glass Art Guild of Utah. It's a hands-on class where you make your own holiday ornament from fused glass, and they provide all the tools, supplies, and instruction, so you don't need to bring anything with you. You'll work through the process of designing and assembling your piece, and since the glass has to be fired in a kiln, you'll pick up your finished ornament the following Saturday.
There are two sessions to choose from: 10 AM to 12 PM or 1 PM to 3 PM, both held in the classroom at Red Butte Garden in Salt Lake City. The class is run by the Glass Art Guild of Utah, a not-for-profit community of glass artists based here in Utah. They describe themselves as a group that promotes professional resident artists, supports emerging talent, and provides a way for local artists to get into art festivals and shows. They also offer educational opportunities taught by nationally acclaimed glass artists, which is exactly what this workshop isβa chance to learn a craft from people who work in it.

One detail that makes it a better deal: every class includes same-day admission to Red Butte Garden and the Arboretum. So if you're already there for the workshop, you can spend the rest of the day walking the grounds. The cost is $48 for Garden Members and $60 for the general public.
