Free public screening of the film 'Stand By Me' at the Center for Arts and Media, followed by a faculty discussion.
SLCC South City Campus is screening Stand By Me on Wednesday, November 11, at 6 PM. It's part of the free film series run by the Center for Arts and Media, which opens its cinema to the public with no tickets required. The movie plays in Screening Room 1-106A at the Center for Arts and Media, 1575 S. State Street, Salt Lake City.
Stand By Me follows a writer recounting a childhood journey he took with his friends to find the body of a boy who went missing in the woods. It's a coming-of-age story about friendship and the kind of trip you never really forget, and seeing it in a theater is a different experience than catching it on a small screen.
What makes this more than just a movie night is what happens after the credits roll. Every screening in the series is followed by a discussion led by SLCC faculty, so you can stick around and talk through the film with people who know their way around cinema. It turns a solitary viewing into something more social, and you're welcome to join in even if you're not a student.
