All-ages art installation of dream-inspired storytelling and interactive installations made from upcycled and recycled materials by Utah Arts Alliance.
Dreamscapes is open at The Gateway on Saturday, October 17, from 12 PM to 10 PM. It's a project of the Utah Arts Alliance, and the scale of it is what sticks with you: more than 100 artists, builders, and audio-visual wizards worked on it. The result is a polychromatic labyrinth of dream-inspired storytelling, interactive installations, and mind-bending visuals, and it's an all-ages adventure, so it works as well for a family outing as it does for a date or a solo wander.
One of the things that sets it apart from your typical immersive exhibit is what it's made of. The installation is built primarily from upcycled and recycled materials, which makes it the state's first environmentally sustainable attraction. That didn't happen in a vacuum, either—it came together with support from partners like the Salt Palace Convention Center, the Mountain America Expo Center, and Habitat for Humanity ReStore, so there's a real local effort behind the scenes. The whole thing is billed as Utah's most imaginative art experience, and when you're inside, you can see why: it's less about looking at art on a wall and more about walking through it.
