Annual Halloween bash with live DJ sets, art-making, open studios, tarot readings, and open-mic karaoke, with a cash bar serving alcohol.
UMOCA is turning its galleries into a party for Doomsday Disco, the museum's annual Halloween bash, on Friday, October 23. It runs from 7 PM to 10 PM at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art at 20 S. West Temple in downtown Salt Lake City.
DJ Flash & Flare are on the soundtrack, with live DJ sets playing in the main gallery. Around the music, there's a fair amount to do: you can pull your own take-home posters at a screenprinting station, wander through the open studios of the museum's artists-in-residence, get a tarot reading, and sing along at open-mic karaoke in the auditorium. There's also a free photobooth for when you've got your costume on, and a cash bar serving beer, wine, and seltzers. Costumes are encouraged.
The night runs alongside Artists Against the Bomb, the museum's current exhibition, which opened on Friday, October 16. So you can drift between the party and the show throughout the evening.
