Stand-up show by comedian Derrick Stroup, headlining his 'Running Hot Tour', at the Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City.
Derrick Stroup brings his stand-up to the Delta Performance Hall at Eccles Theater on Saturday, November 7, as part of his Running Hot Tour. He's an Alabama native who has spent the last few years moving from the Southern club circuit to the national stage, and this is one of his Salt Lake City stops.
If you haven't caught him yet, the easiest place to start is his debut Netflix special, Nostalgic, which premiered March 10 and spent time in the Top 10 shows in the U.S. That special was filmed at the Lyric Theatre in Alabama, so it's got that home-state energy to it. He made his first appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2023, and since then he's been one of the faster-rising voices in the scene, playing the Comedy Cellar in New York and touring alongside headliners like Bert Kreischer, Larry the Cable Guy, John Crist and Nate Bargatze.
He's worked closely with Bargatze in particular: he appeared in Bargatze's 2024 Christmas special and is set to be in the upcoming film The Breadwinner, which Bargatze co-wrote and Eric Appel directed. That connection puts him in the same orbit as some of the biggest names in the current comedy landscape, and the Running Hot Tour is his own headlining run.
