Co-headlining show by David Wimbish & The Collection and Raynes on 'The Heavy Radio Tour' at Soundwell.
David Wimbish & The Collection and Raynes co-headline Soundwell on Wednesday, October 21, as part of 'The Heavy Radio Tour.' It's a double bill of indie folk and pop, with both acts sharing the stage rather than one opening for the other.
David Wimbish is a North Carolina native now living in Richmond, Virginia. For a decade, he fronted The Collection, releasing four albums under that name. He's now billing himself as David Wimbish & The Collection, a shift that marks a return to a more organic, song-focused sound. He worked with producer Marshall Altman on Heavy Love, an album he recorded almost entirely on his own in a studio he built in his parents' North Carolina home after Hurricane Helene devastated his community. His writing sits in the indie folk and alternative pop space, with lyrics that explore mental health—work that's drawn praise from NPR and American Songwriter.
Raynes is a British-American trio with a bit of a long-distance origin story: North Dakota natives Mat Charley and Joe Berger discovered UK singer Mark Race on Instagram and flew him to the US to start the band. Signed to Sony Music Publishing, they've put out six singles and four EPs, racked up tens of millions of streams, and earned press in Billboard and People. They played BottleRock 2025, and their sound is built on intricate vocal harmonies that blend folk, rock, chamber pop, and world music.
