Creative lab workshops for teens and adults beginning their sewing journey, presented by the Salt Lake City Public Library.
The Salt Lake City Public Library is hosting its Creative Lab Workshops at the Main Branch on Friday, October 16, from 4 PM to 5:30 PM. These are for teens and adults who are just beginning their sewing journey, so if you've never touched a sewing machine or only know how to sew a button, this is exactly where you start.
One thing to keep in mind: spots are first-come, first-served. There's no reservation or sign-up list, so if you're planning to go, you'll want to get there a bit early to make sure you get a seat. It's a hands-on session, and since it's open to both teens and adults, you'll likely be working alongside people from a few different age groups.
If you haven't spent much time there, the Main Branch is the big one downtown at 210 East 400 South. It was designed by architect Moshe Safdie and opened in February 2003. The library describes it as more than a repository of books and computers—a civic resource that reflects and engages the city's imagination and aspirations. It's double the size of the previous space, covering 240,000 square feet with room for more than 500,000 books and other materials. It's a massive building, so give yourself a few minutes to find the Creative Lab once you're inside.
