Free monthly gathering of the Rumi Poetry Club to celebrate the poetry and teachings of Jalaluddin Rumi.
The Rumi Poetry Club is hosting Autumn with Rumi at Golden Braid Books on Tuesday, October 6, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. It's a Sufi poetry evening, and it's part of a monthly series the club is running on the first Tuesday of every month this fall.
Rasoul Shams founded the club in 2007 to mark the 800th anniversary of Jalรขluddin Rumi's birth. He first came to Rumi's poems in his Persian classes as a young boy in Iran, and since then he's studied and lived in India, Japan, and the United States. He's written several books on the poet: Rumi: The Art of Loving, Rumi Essays, The Words of Rumi, and Through Love Pain is Healed. Over the years, the club has focused on Rumi's poetry, his inspiration, and his perennial teachings, alongside other poets of the heart, nature, and spiritual life from around the world.
