Free ballet showcase by senior students of the University of Utah School of Dance, with three evening performances.
The University of Utah School of Dance is bringing its 2026-27 Ballet Showcase to the Marriott Center for Dance this December, and it's one of those local events that's easy to overlook if you aren't paying attention. The showcase is built around choreography from senior ballet students, which changes the whole feel of the night. Instead of a professional company performing a set program, you're watching students who've spent years in the studio finally step out as choreographers. It's their work on display, not just their dancing.
Because the choreography comes from the students themselves, the program is a collection of new pieces rather than a single, cohesive production. You'll see several different works in one evening, each one a separate look at what these seniors are working on as they move toward the end of their degrees. It's a good way to see a range of styles and ideas in one sitting, since each piece comes from a different student's perspective.

The showcase runs over three nights, so you've got a few options depending on when you can make it. The first performance is Thursday, Dec. 3, at 5:30 PM, and the following two are Friday, Dec. 4, and Saturday, Dec. 5, both at 7:30 PM. If you're coming from across town, the Marriott Center for Dance is at 330 South 1500 East in Salt Lake City, UT 84112. It's free and open to the public, so there's no ticket to worry aboutβjust show up when you can.
