Carolina Youth Ballet presents its production of The Nutcracker, a holiday tradition featuring Tchaikovsky's classic score and a winter wonderland story.
Carolina Youth Ballet brings The Nutcracker to the A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater at the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts this November. It's a Raleigh holiday tradition, and for good reason: the production is built around Tchaikovsky's classic score, which most of us recognize even if we've never seen a ballet in our lives.
The story follows Clara on an enchanted journey through a sparkling winter wonderland, and the production hits the beats you're expecting. There are dancing snowflakes, toy soldiers, and the dazzling Sugar Plum Fairy, all set to that familiar music. It's the kind of show that works as well for a first-timer as it does for someone who's seen it every year.

There are three performances to choose from over two days, so you can pick the one that fits your schedule. The first is Friday, November 13, at 6 PM. On Saturday, November 14, there are two more: a noon matinee and a 3:30 PM showing. If you're bringing kids, those Saturday afternoon slots are usually the easier bet. The venue is the A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater at the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts, 2 E. South St., in downtown Raleigh.
