Open mic night for new and seasoned comedians at Helium Comedy Club, with a two-item per person minimum in the showroom.
Helium Comedy Club holds its Open Mic Night on Tuesday, October 20, starting at 8 PM. It's a recurring thing, with the same setup on Tuesday, October 27, and Tuesday, November 3, so if you miss this one, you've got two more coming up. The night is open to new talent and seasoned comics alike, and on any given night, more than 20 comedians take the stage, each getting between three and seven minutes. That's a lot of different voices in one evening, and because the room draws from both ends of the experience scale, you'll hear people testing out their first few jokes alongside comics who've been doing this for years.
If you're thinking of getting on stage yourself, there's a specific way it works. The night runs on a random lottery: the signup list is posted outside the club from 6 PM to 7 PM, and the final lineup is posted later in the lounge. You can't sign up in person before 6 PM, so don't show up too early expecting to get your name on the list. Once the lottery is drawn, the order is set, and you'll find out where you land in the lineup.

On the audience side, all shows are 21+. Instead of a drink minimum, there's a two-item per person minimum in the showroom, which can be food or drink from the menu rather than bar and lounge purchases. If you're bringing a group, keep in mind that parties of six or more in the showroom incur an automatic 20% gratuity. General Admission seating is first-come, first-served, and Reserved seats are assigned by management on the night. All sales are final, and the venue is fully accessible. If there's a show in the Main showroom, the open mic moves to the Neon Room. The show starts at 8 PM.
