Full-day printmaking workshop for students in grades 2-5 at The Frick Pittsburgh, where they create art inspired by the museum's collections.
The Frick Pittsburgh is hosting a Youth Art Workshop: Printmaking on Friday, November 20, from 12 PM to 5 PM. It's part of their youth art workshop series, which is open to students in grades 2 through 5. The session runs across the Education Center and The Frick Art Museum at 7227 Reynolds St.
Throughout the day, students work with teaching artists to explore art and history using the museum's collections as a starting point. They'll pick up skills in printmaking, and the workshop is designed to give them a safe place to connect, discover, and create. By the time they head home, participants walk away with between two and five finished works. This particular session adds a reusable linoleum block to the mix, so they can keep making prints long after the day is over.
It's worth noting that November 20 is a PPS in-service day, which makes it a convenient option if your kid is out of school that Friday. The museum itself is centered on the historic 1892 Clayton house of industrialist Henry Clay Frick, and the ten-acre grounds include the Car and Carriage Museum and an active greenhouse restored from the family's original 1897-1970s structure.
