Weekly Wednesday morning of chair and wheelchair yoga, art-making, guided gallery tours, meditations and art history classes for visitors aged 55 and over, with early entry.
Mindful Museum is back at the Carnegie Museum of Art on Wednesday, October 28, as part of a series that turns Wednesday mornings into a regular destination for visitors aged 55 and over. It's a program that's been running since 2022, and it's built around the idea of the museum as a place that looks after your mind, body, and soul as much as your interest in art. The sessions happen before the museum opens to the general public, so you get the galleries to yourself.
The morning is a mix of movement and making. There's chair and wheelchair yoga, drawing and art-making, and 30-minute guided gallery tours. You'll also find meditations, art history classes, and socials, with guest senior artists leading some sessions and museum curators taking the lead on others. It's not just one thing—you can move from a yoga stretch to a guided tour and then to a drawing session, all in the same morning.
There are a few perks that come with it. Participants get early entry at 9 AM, discounted coffee and a pastry at Café Carnegie, and $5 parking. The whole thing is designed to be accessible, and scholarships are available for anyone who can't afford the registration fee.
