A night of family fun featuring a train ride through the zoo with thousands of hand-carved jack-o'-lanterns, spooky scavenger hunts and seasonal food and drink.
The Jack O' Lantern Extravaganza is back at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium for the fall of 2026, running from October 15 through November 1. It's a night train ride through the first half of the zoo, taking you through the Village, Forest Passage, African Savanna, Jambo Plaza, The Islands, and Jungle Odyssey, where thousands of hand-carved jack-o'-lanterns light the way. Along the route, there are spooky scavenger hunts and seasonal food and drink to keep you going.
If you're planning a Thursday night, there's a bit more on the table. They offer 21+ add-on activations on those nights, like a mixology class, a comedy night, or Disco's UNdead Halloween Party, so you can stretch the evening into something for adults after the family-friendly part is done. It's a good way to turn a quick trip into a full night out.
