Storytime for young children celebrating Native American Heritage Month with stories centering American Indian voices.
Heinz History Center is hosting a Little Historians Storytime session on Thursday, Nov. 19, from 10:15 AM to 11:15 AM, and this one is built around Native American Heritage Month. It's part of their ongoing Little Historians series, which they describe as being for "little history makers."
The session centers on stories told from American Indian voices. Through those stories, kids get a look at the history and cultures of Native nations and communities connected to Western Pennsylvania and beyond. It's not just sitting and listening, eitherβthe hour mixes reading with play and hands-on discovery, so the younger ones can work their way through the history rather than just hearing it. If you've got a curious kid who likes to ask "why" and "how," this is exactly the kind of thing that usually hits the mark.
