Monthly open-mic nonfiction storytelling series where storytellers share six-minute tales on the theme 'Ties That Bind', hosted by Alan Olifson.
Story Club PGH brings another Story Slam to Cucina Alfabeto on Tuesday, November 3, from 7 PM to 8:30 PM. This one is built around the theme Ties That Bind, and it's part of the monthly nonfiction storytelling series City of Asylum has been running with Story Club since 2022. Story Club was started by the former producers of The Moth Pittsburgh, so the format will be familiar if you've ever caught a Moth show in the city.
It's an open-mic night: storytellers are invited to share a six-minute true tale on the theme, and the audience votes for the top one. The winner walks away with a free City of Asylum t-shirt. The whole thing is hosted by Alan Olifson, an award-winning humor columnist and comedian who was the regular host of Pittsburgh's monthly Moth StorySlams. He also created the storytelling series Wordplay at Bricolage Theater and now produces the storytelling and talk show Speakeasy at Arcade Comedy Theater. His book, Manchild: My Life without Adult Supervision (Six Gallery Press), is available locally.
