Two-day dance lab with six workshops on body control, partner connection and footwork led by New York dancer Brianna Rios.
Los Sabrosos are hosting the Ignition Dance Lab at their studio at 4909 Penn Ave on Friday, November 20, and Saturday, November 21. It's a two-day dancer development experience led by New York-based dancer Brianna Rios, and the whole thing is built around six workshops covering body control, partner connection, and footwork. The lab is designed to feed into the venue's regular Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, and Zouk nights, so the work you do in the studio carries over to the dance floor.
Coming from New York, Rios brings a career that started when she was four. By 18, she was the youngest professional World Champion in the Salsa On2 division, and she's since become a ten-time World Champion. She's judged international competitions and represented the USA at the 2017 World Games in Poland. Beyond the competition circuit, she's appeared as a featured dancer in films like Shine and Warner Bros.' In The Heights, and in Karol G's music video "Papasito."
In the workshops, she focuses on the "why" behind the moves, pushing dancers to prioritize skill and musical expression over choreography. The weekend closes with social nights: a Zouk-Chata fusion on Friday and Noche Latina Red Hot on Saturday.
