All-day youth art workshop for students in grades 2-5 to create 3D sculpture works at The Frick Pittsburgh.
The Frick Pittsburgh is hosting a Full Day Youth Art Workshop: Sculpture on Tuesday, November 3, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. It's open to students in grades 2 through 5, and it runs across both the Education Center and The Frick Art Museum at 7227 Reynolds St. in Point Breeze.
The workshop is part of a series that pairs students with teaching artists to explore art and history through the museum's collections. This particular session focuses on sculpture, so the day is all about working in three dimensions. Depending on the artist's pace, kids walk away with between two and five finished pieces of their own. It's a good fit for a few different kinds of students: the budding artist who's already into making things, someone putting together a CAPA application, or just a kid who wants to try something new and see if they like it. The museum describes the workshops as a way to spark curiosity and give students a safe place to connect, discover, and create.

One practical detail to keep in mind: November 3 is a Pittsburgh Public Schools in-service day, so it's a day when kids are out of school. Advance registration is required, and there's a limited number of scholarships available if the cost is a barrier. The price is $90, or $110 for Member Youth ages 3 to 17.
