A free three-day hands-on programme for Native American veterans and their families to learn traditional instrument making, including flutes, rattles, and drums.
The Heard Museum is hosting the Veterans & Family Traditional Instrument Workshop this November, a free three-day program open to Native American veterans and their families. It's a hands-on series, so you'll be making the instruments yourself rather than just watching a demonstration.
The workshop is spread across three Tuesday nights, from 6 to 9 PM on November 10, 17, and 24. Each night focuses on a different instrument, and a different instructor leads each session. On November 10, Aaron White leads the flute workshop. On November 17, Aarick Mack takes over for the rattle workshop. And on November 24, Moontee Sinquah leads the drum workshop. If you're interested in all three, you'll walk away with a flute, a rattle, and a drum by the end of the series.

Because it's a hands-on program, space is limited and registration is required. The sessions are free for Native American veterans and their families, so you won't pay anything to participate. The Heard Museum is at 2301 North Central Avenue in Phoenix, and each session runs from 6 to 9 PM on those three Tuesdays: November 10, 17, and 24.
