Screening of the ocean documentary 'Oceans: Our Blue Planet' at the Irene P. Flinn Giant Screen Theater in the Arizona Science Center.
Oceans: Our Blue Planet opens at the Arizona Science Center on Tuesday, October 27, and it's not a one-offβthe film runs every Tuesday through November 24, so you've got five dates to choose from. It plays at 11:15 AM each time, which makes it a good mid-morning thing to do on a weekday if you're around downtown.
The film is a global odyssey of the ocean, the largest and least explored habitat on Earth. It takes you from the coastal shallows down into deeper, more mysterious worlds, and it's built on new ocean science and technology that's let filmmakers go further into the unknown than they ever could before. Along the way, it tells the untold stories of some of the ocean's most astonishing creatures: there's an ingenious tusk fish that uses a tool to open its food, and a cunning octopus that shields herself in an armoury of shells to hide from predators.
It's an Oceanic Research Group Films production, made with support from the Giant Dome Theater Consortium and presented by MacGillivray Freeman Films. The screening takes place in the Irene P. Flinn Giant Screen Theater, which stands five stories tall with high-definition sound all around. If you're a member of the Science Center or have a Discovery Pass, the film is included in your admission.
