Screening of the National Theatre Live stage production of Frankenstein, directed by Danny Boyle and starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller.
National Theatre Live: Frankenstein comes to the Phoenix Art Museum on Saturday, October 31, from 1 PM to 4 PM. It's a telecast screening of the National Theatre's stage production, not a live performance, so you're watching a recorded version of the show on screen rather than a play happening in the room.
The production was directed by Academy Award winner Danny Boyle, known for Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch, who you might know from Hamlet and Sherlock, and Jonny Lee Miller, from Elementary and Trainspotting. The two actors alternated between the roles of Victor Frankenstein and his creation throughout the run, with Cumberbatch cast as the Creature. The show was captured live on stage in 2011 and went on to become an international sensation, seen by nearly half a million people in cinemas around the world.

Since it's a screening of a recorded stage show, you get the full performance as it happened on the National Theatre's stage, just projected for a cinema audience. It's a good way to catch a production that would otherwise require a trip to London, and seeing two actors swap the lead roles gives you a different perspective on the story than a single casting would. The screening runs from 1 PM to 4 PM at the museum, 1625 N Central Ave in Phoenix, and tickets are $15 for members and $20 for non-members.
