Gilla Band plays Valley Bar in Downtown Phoenix with special guest Tournament, marking the band's 'Giraffe' album.
Gilla Band play Valley Bar on Saturday, November 7, their first Phoenix date in years. They're touring Giraffe, their first new music in nearly four, and the set will center on it. The album follows Most Normal, their critically acclaimed third record, which Pitchfork called "a masterpiece of panic and deconstruction."
If you've only heard the records, the live show is where the band really comes into focus. The Guardian described their set as feeling "genuinely dangerous, like one last rave before the apocalypse," and that's a fair way to frame it: loud, heavy, and built for a room rather than a pair of headphones. Giraffe is the first new material they've put out since Most Normal, so this is the first time these songs have been played out in the open.
They aren't playing alone, either. Tournament opens the night as special guest, and the whole thing is presented by Lucky Man Concerts. The show is for ages 16 and over, so keep that in mind if you're bringing anyone younger.
