Little chefs prepare spiderweb-inspired tostadas at the Children's Museum of Phoenix as part of the Hispanic Heritage Month programme.
Cooking with Krystal is back at the Children's Museum of Phoenix on Tuesday, October 27, for a session called Spiderweb Tostadas. It's a hands-on class where little chefs get to make tostadas decorated like spiderwebs, so it's a good one to bring the kids along for.
The session is part of the museum's Hispanic Heritage Month program, which runs all through October and fills the month with hands-on art, food, dance, and cultural activities. The Cooking with Krystal series specifically looks at Hispanic, Southwest, and Indigenous foodways, pulling out the traditions and stories behind the flavors and ingredients that shape them. The spiderweb tostadas fit right into thatโa seasonal twist on a classic dish that lets kids get their hands dirty while they learn.
It's a great way to spend a Tuesday afternoon if you've got little ones who like to help in the kitchen. You'll find it in the KIDchen, the museum's dedicated cooking space, where the kids take the lead on the prep and the plating. Between the spiderweb theme and the hands-on nature of the class, it's more about the process than just the final plate.
