World premiere screening of the 20 best short films from the 10 Day Film Challenge at AMC Arizona Center 24.
The A3F Film Challenge Screening takes over AMC Arizona Center 24 on Thursday, October 22, at 7 PM. It's the finale of the Almost Famous Film Festival's 10 Day Film Challenge, and the whole thing is sponsored by DTPHX.
If you haven't heard of the challenge, here's the setup: filmmakers of every age and skill level are invited to craft, shoot, and produce a short film—three to six minutes long—in just ten days. It's a sprint, not a marathon, and it puts everyone on the same clock. From there, the twenty most outstanding films are selected for their world-premiere screening before a live, capacity audience. That's what you're seeing on the 22nd: twenty different shorts, all made within that same ten-day window, playing back-to-back on the big screen.
Because the challenge is open to anyone, the lineup usually pulls from all over the place—different styles, different experience levels, and a lot of variety packed into one night. You'll see twenty films in a single sitting, each one a world premiere, so it's a good way to catch a broad cross-section of what local filmmakers can pull together when they're working against a tight deadline. The screening is the final act of the Almost Famous Film Festival's challenge, and it's the first time these twenty films will be shown to an audience.
