Screening of the documentary 'The Social Reckoning', about the Facebook data leak by Frances Haugen, at the historic Phoenix Picturehouse.
The Social Reckoning screens at Phoenix Picturehouse on Monday 19 October at 19:45. It's the sequel to The Social Network, and this time the focus shifts from the founding of Facebook to the leak that followed. The story centres on Frances Haugen, the former Facebook employee who went public with a trove of internal documents about the company's impact on its users.
If you remember The Social Network for the way it tracked the early, messy days of the site, this picks up the other end of the thread. It's less about the boardroom battles of the start-up years and more about the fallout that comes when the company is already a global giant. Haugen's whistleblowing is the core of it, and the film follows the leak and the fallout that followed.
Phoenix Picturehouse is on Walton Street in Oxford, OX2 6AE. It's a century-old cinema with two screens and a friendly upstairs bar that serves wines, spirits, bottled beers and snacks. They also run a membership scheme from £6.99 a month, which gets you free cinema tickets, discounts on food and drinks, no booking fees and priority booking. There's a 'Kids' Club' too, presented with UNICEF.

The screening is on Monday 19 October at 19:45, so it's a midweek evening session rather than a weekend one. If you're planning to head in early, the bar is upstairs, and the cinema itself is on Walton Street.
