Concert by The Heath Quartet, the acclaimed British string quartet from the Royal Northern College of Music, at Holywell Music Room.
The Heath Quartet are playing at Holywell Music Room on Sunday 6 December, starting at 11:15am. It's a morning concert, so it's one of those you can fit in before lunch on a Sunday.
If you haven't come across them, the quartet formed at the Royal Northern College of Music and has spent the last decade building a proper discography. They've recorded the complete Tippett quartets, which won the Gramophone Chamber Award in 2016, and the complete Bartók quartets, which picked up a Limelight Chamber Music Award in 2017. Tchaikovsky's First and Third quartets also made the cut, and that recording was named a BBC Radio 3 Disc of the Week.
They've played a two-season residency at Berlin's Pierre Boulez Saal, performed at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and the Brighton Dome Corn Exchange, and served as faculty at the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme. The members are staff at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and in 2025 the ensemble became String Quartet in Residence at Middlesex University. The RPS Young Artists Award they won in 2013 was the first of its kind to go to an ensemble in fifteen years.
