Sunday morning chamber music concert by the Astatine Piano Trio, with Beethoven and Schumann trios, at the Holywell Music Room.
Astatine Piano Trio play the Holywell Music Room on Sunday 15 November, as part of the Oxford Coffee Concerts. It's a morning slot, starting at 11:15, so it's one of those Sunday things you can fit in before the rest of the day takes over.
They're bringing two piano trios to the table. The first is Beethoven's Piano Trio no 2 in G major, op 1 no 2, and the second is Robert Schumann's Piano Trio no 3 in G minor, op 110. It's a pairing that puts two different eras of the trio side by side, and since it's just the two of them, you'll hear the full range of the ensemble without any filler.
The concert sits within the Oxford Coffee Concerts, a chamber music series that's been running at the Holywell Music Room since 1986. The room itself is something of a local landmark: it's the oldest purpose-built music hall in the world and the oldest concert hall in Europe. Leading groups play here nearly every Sunday morning throughout the year, and every concert is recorded and put on the series' YouTube channel, so if you can't make it in person, you can still catch it later.

There's a particular local rhythm to these mornings: coffee at a nearby pub before the music starts, and free admission for children aged 5-10 when accompanied by an adult, with no children under five. It's a Sunday morning tradition that's been going for decades, and this is the next one in the line. Astatine Piano Trio, Holywell Music Room, Sunday 15 November, 11:15am.
