Guided tour by the Museum of Oxford's volunteers about the stories of Oxford, from Alice in Wonderland to its reputation as a film location.
The Oxford Story is the next guided walk from the Museum of Oxford, running on Tuesday 20 October from 13:00 to 13:45. It's part of a wider series of tours run by the museum's volunteer team, so if you've done one before, you'll know the drill: a small group, a local guide, and a route that takes you through the city on foot.
This particular walk leans into Oxford's reputation as a city of stories. It touches on Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, the city's cinemas, and its long history as a film location, as well as its role as a place of inspiration for writers. It's the kind of tour that connects the things you probably already know about the city with the less obvious bits that sit right under your nose.
It's one of several routes the museum offers, alongside A history of Oxford in 6 objects, An introduction to Oxford's past, Artisan Oxford: Arts, Crafts, and Creations, Oxford Night Out and This Talented Town. The tours run at least twice a month, and if the scheduled times don't work for you, you can enquire about alternatives. This one lasts between 30 and 45 minutes, with time left over for questions at the end, and it takes groups of up to ten people. It's recommended for adults and children aged 12 and over.

Tickets are £4 per person, and that includes access to the museum's galleries, so you can have a proper look around before or after you head out. The tour starts at the Museum of Oxford, inside Oxford Town Hall on St Aldate's, OX1 1BX — you'll need to meet in the museum's gift shop. It runs from 13:00 to 13:45 on Tuesday 20 October.
