Screening of Georgia Oakley's film adaptation of Jane Austen's novel, with Daisy Edgar-Jones, George MacKay and Fiona Shaw.
Sense and Sensibility is playing at Vue Cinema in Oxford from 11 October to 22 October, with the run continuing through the middle of the month. It's a new take on Jane Austen's novel, the one about love and sisterhood that's been adapted so many times it's practically a genre in itself. This version comes from Focus Features and Working Title, and they're billing it as a charming, witty, and deeply relatable story, so it's not just a costume drama for the sake of it.
Georgia Oakley directs, and the cast is a big one. Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esme Creed-Miles take the lead, with Caitriona Balfe, Frank Dillane, Herbert Nordrum, Bodhi Rae Breathnach, George MacKay, and Fiona Shaw filling out the rest of the ensemble. If you've seen any of them before, you'll recognise a few familiar faces here. The film runs 2 hours 12 minutes, so it's a proper length for a cinema trip rather than a quick in-and-out.

It's running at the Vue in Ozone Leisure Park on Grenoble Road, OX4 4XP, which is easy enough to get to if you're coming from the city centre. Tickets start from £6.49, so it's a reasonably cheap way to spend an afternoon or evening. With the run going from 11 October to 22 October, you've got a good window to fit it in whenever suits you best.
