Free screening of Shahrbanoo Sadat's film 'No Good Men', followed by a Q&A with the director, part of the Afghanistan Reframed screening day.
No Good Men screens at the Schwarzman Centre on Saturday 24 October, followed by a conversation with the director. It's part of Afghanistan Reframed, a screening day that brings together rarely seen films from Afghanistan's cinematic archive and contemporary works to look at the country through the eyes of its filmmakers, both at home and across the diaspora.
No Good Men is a 2026 film by Shahrbanoo Sadat. It follows twenty-five-year-old Naru, who lives with her three-year-old son in her parents' apartment in Kabul. Betrayed by her husband's affairs, she's grown to distrust men, until a prominent Kabul TV journalist offers her a career opportunity just as Afghanistan faces the Taliban's return. The film is screened in Dari, Arabic, Pashto, English and German, with English subtitles.
The whole Afghanistan Reframed programme is curated by Dr Chihab El Khachab, Associate Professor in Visual Anthropology and Fellow of Wolfson College, and Parwana Haydar, a filmmaker and curator with the Afghan Visual Arts and History collective—a transnational arts collective founded in 2019 by Afghan artists and artworkers. The discussions after the screenings are held in English, Persian and Pashto.
