Musical theatre workshop for children aged 8 to 13 to learn 'Hard Knock Life' from Annie, with a short performance for their families.
Scott's Performing Arts are running a musical theatre workshop for children at New Theatre Oxford on Tuesday 27 October, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. It's a four-hour session aimed at kids aged 8 to 13, and the whole thing centres on one of the most recognisable numbers from Annie: 'Hard Knock Life'.
It's built as an accessible introduction to musical theatre, so it's not just about singing. The session brings together singing, movement and acting, and the kids get stuck into 'Hard Knock Life' throughout the afternoon. It all leads up to a short performance for family members or guardians to come and watch at the end, so there's a proper result to show for the four hours.
There's a bit of a wider context to the timing, too. The workshop comes ahead of Annie opening at New Theatre Oxford that December, so it's a chance for the kids to work through one of the show's biggest numbers before the full production arrives in the city. If they've got a thing for the musical, it's a nice way to get involved with it properly rather than just watching from the stalls.
