Free drop-in Halloween-themed half-term workshop for families to create a monster friend in the Ashmolean's Atrium.
The Ashmolean Museum is running a couple of Halloween-themed family workshops this half-term, and the one to keep on your radar is Create a Monster Friend. It runs on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October, from 11am to 3pm both days, over in the Lower Ground Floor Atrium.
The whole thing is a drop-in, so you don't need to book a slot or turn up right at the start — you can just drift in with the kids whenever it suits you across those two days. The idea is simple: you get to make your own monster friend, and it's open to families of all ages, so it works whether you've got toddlers or older children in tow.
It's worth remembering where this is happening. The Ashmolean is the University of Oxford's museum of art and archaeology, founded in 1683, with more than half a million years of art and archaeology in its collections, from Egyptian mummies to contemporary art. Admission to the museum is free, so you can easily make a day of it: spend some time in the galleries and then head down to the Atrium for the workshop.

The workshops themselves are free, too. They run from 11am to 3pm on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October in the Lower Ground Floor Atrium, and because they're drop-in, you can just pop in and out as you like.
