One-day workshop for 11-16 year olds to choose and adapt a classic scary story for the screen, run by Creation Theatre.
Creation Theatre are running a one-day filmmaking workshop for 11 to 16-year-olds at Wolvercote Primary School on Friday 30 October, from 10.00am to 4.00pm. The day is called Make a Scary Film in a Day, and it's part of their half-term programme of workshops and masterclasses for ages 7-11 and 11-16. The young people take the lead throughout: they choose a chilling classic story and then reimagine and adapt it for the screen.
Creation Theatre is Oxfordshire's largest producing theatre company and a not-for-profit charity. The sessions are led by DBS-checked staff with a first aider on site, and they use an I-CANN technique — saying a line and asking the children to repeat it rather than asking them to read — to build confidence. Each half-term week culminates in a live performance for family and friends, so there's a real sense of something coming together by the end of the run.

It costs £55.50 for the day. There's a 10% sibling discount if you've got more than one child taking part, and Creation extras get 20% off one workshop or masterclass a year. Bursary places are also available for those in receipt of Universal Credit. The workshop runs at Wolvercote Primary School, First Turn, Wolvercote, Oxford OX2 8AQ, from 10.00am to 4.00pm on Friday 30 October.
