Free family drawing session guided by Print Room staff, inspired by the 'Aphrodite: The Making of a Goddess' exhibition, for children aged 8+.
Let's Draw Together is a free family drawing session at the Ashmolean Museum on Saturday 19 December, held in the Western Art Print Room. It's part of the museum's family programme and is aimed at children aged 8 and up, who come along with an adult. The museum describes it as being for children and adults who enjoy calm, quiet environments and activities that keep them focused.
The session is built around a selection of works from the museum's collection, inspired by the exhibition Aphrodite: The Making of a Goddess, which opened on 8 October. You'll spend the time looking closely at a group of drawings specially selected for the activity and taking part in drawing activities guided by Print Room staff, who provide all the materials. It's a chance to see a part of the museum that sits beyond the main galleries.
The session forms part of the museum's Love & Legacy season, a programme of talks, workshops and events exploring ancient myths of love and beauty, creativity and the stories artworks tell, and how ideas, traditions and practices have been shared through art and culture across generations. The Aphrodite exhibition, which the drawing session draws on, is one of the exhibitions that season works around.
