Free family drawing session in the Ashmolean's Western Art Print Room, guided by Print Room staff and inspired by the 'Aphrodite' exhibition.
Let's Draw Together is running at the Ashmolean Museum throughout the autumn, with sessions on 27, 28, 29 and 30 October, and again on Saturday 19 December. It's part of the museum's family programme, and it takes you into the Western Art Print Room to draw from a group of works specially selected from the collection. The prints are inspired by Aphrodite: The Making of a Goddess, the exhibition that opened on 8 October.
The session is guided by the museum's Print Room staff, and they describe it as best suited to children and adults who enjoy calm, quiet environments and activities that keep them focused. It's a chance to look closely at artworks and explore a part of the museum that sits beyond the main galleries, so you're seeing things that don't usually make it onto the walls. All drawing materials are provided, and only pencils and the provided materials may be used.
Each ticket covers entry to the Print Room for one adult and one child aged 8+, so it's a one-to-one thing rather than a group outing. When you arrive, you'll need to report to the Welcome Desk to get access. The tickets are free, but booking is essential, so you'll want to sort yours in advance rather than turning up on the day.
