Annual three-day festival of light art, lantern parades, live performances, workshops, food stalls and craft markets across Oxford city centre.
Oxford's Christmas Light Festival returns to the city centre from 13 to 15 November 2026, three days of light art, lantern parades, music, dance and storytelling. It's an annual thing that turns the city into a winter wonderland, with light art, lantern parades and live performances lighting up the streets, courtyards and landmarks. It brings together artists, schools and community groups alongside independent food stalls and craft markets, and it's led by Oxford City Council in partnership with cultural organisations including Film Oxford, IF Oxford, the Museum of Oxford, The North Wall Arts Centre, Pegasus Theatre and The Covered Market, where Santa visits the market each year.
Beyond the installations, the festival runs workshops through IF Oxford Science and Ideas Festival to show visitors how to build their own LED light displays. The whole thing is free to attend, so you can wander through the city centre and surrounding areas over the three days and see as much as you like. The official site is oxlightfest.com.
