Screening of Graham Fellows' comedy documentary 'It's Nice Up North' for its 20th anniversary, followed by a post-screening Q&A with Fellows hosted by Tom Ryan.
Graham Fellows is coming to Phoenix Picturehouse on Monday 9 November, as part of a twentieth-anniversary tour for his comedy documentary It's Nice Up North. The film stars his alter ego John Shuttleworth and was shot by the photographer Martin Parr, whose distinctive eye is central to the whole thing. The tour is presented as a tribute to Parr, and Fellows comes out after the screening to talk about his on and off-screen relationship with him and how Parr adapted his legendary techniques to a film camera and crew on a remote Scottish island.
The Q&A is hosted by Tom Ryan, who runs the Honk! comedy nights in Henley and Marlow. It's a double bill of sorts: the film first, then Fellows himself on stage to fill in the gaps. If you've seen the movie before, it's a good excuse to revisit it with the context of the conversation that follows; if you haven't, you'll get the full story in one go.
